Our support to OUH nurses: The Burdett Nursing Trust Grant Award

In May 2021, the Burdett Trust for Nursing published a new grant programme, focusing on digital health, with nurse-led projects at the forefront.

Keen to support the nursing sector, TheHill put out a call  to OUH nurses and midwives’ groups open to collaborating with us to:

  • deliver a digital health project proposal for this opportunity
  • explore ways of improving nursing with digital technology
  • model and implement interventions that lead to transformational change in the way patient care is delivered.

The grants for the 2022 Digital Health Grant Programme cover three areas of digital health innovation:

  • Data and analytics to measure and improve nursing practice and nurse-led interventions
  • Leadership development for digital nurses and associated professional standards
  • Patient-centred digital health improvement projects

We received requests for assistance from three OUH nurses, as well as some from other nurses at other NHS trusts. In her role as Grant Development Officer Stefania, along with other members of TheHill team, triaged these applications and offered appropriate support, ranging from simply providing information to, more substantial assistance in preparing applications. We are looking forward to hearing award decisions in autumn.

Grant proposal writing is a demanding task, and many applicants struggle to navigate the process. Assisting them with applications, as in the case with the Burdett Trust opportunity, means we help individuals, and organisations access the funding necessary to implement their innovation strategies.
